Beer Cheese for Labor Day!

Labor Day weekend is a time for family, friends, and food! So for this Monday’s Beer Blog Post I thought I would share a favorite Beer Cheese Dip recipe that is easy to make, fast, AND has ingredients you probably already have — it is Wisconsin so I’m assuming Beer and Cheese have a special place in your fridge.

When selecting a beer-I prefer a malty one to compliment the Cheese, but Bobby prefers hoppy beers for cooking so he gets the extra hop aromas and acidic notes. To each their own! I encourage you to have fun!!

Ingredients 4 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1 cup beer

8 ounces smoked gouda cheese freshly grated

Instructions

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium high heat.

Add in the flour, garlic powder, paprika, and cumin and whisk until it thickens for about 2-3 minutes.

Keep whisking and slowly pour in the beer and let thicken for another couple of minutes.

Drink the rest of the beer!

Add the cheese and whisk until completely melted, and the mixture is shiny and smooth.

Immediately remove the pan from heat and serve with crusty bread, soft pretzels, or anything given all things taste good when covered in beer cheese!!

So before you head to your Aunt’s house or your friend’s party for Labor Day you can whip this bad boy up and be the Big Cheese of the day!

Cheers!
