Support An Equal Playing Field for Craft Beer!

For nearly a decade, representatives from all segments of Wisconsin`s alcoholic beverage industry have been seeking a compromise to update and improve our state`s liquor laws. Despite coming from many different angles, and having several different points of view, these stakeholders managed to compromise and find common ground on several important changes that will make Wisconsin a better place to do business, and will provide improved regulations of the industry.

The result is Assembly Bill 304 and Senate Bill 332, identical pieces of legislation currently moving through the statehouse.

Among other changes, these bills will allow craft brewers up to three full-service retail locations in the state, incentivizing growth, spreading their products around the state, and building on the already-strong tourism industry.

These bills clarify the rules about contract brewing, an important segment for small producers to get their businesses off the ground without the need for a capital expenditure for a brick-and-mortar location, and these bills improve rules for producers about tastings and samplings in tap rooms.

It also improves alcoholic beverage regulations in the state, clarifying alcohol beverage control with a new division that will be focused full-time on the complicated beer, wine, and spirits categories.

Changes to the regulations have been proposed for years in Madison, but none have gotten this level of industry buy-in.

Now we need your help to get across the finish line.

The good news is that this passed its Assembly committee with overwhelming bipartisan support. Please use this easy form to reach out to your lawmakers in Madison and tell them that you want them to pass this smart and effective compromise. Click here:
