Our brand new rice lager collab with @swaybeer is officially on draft at the taproom.
A pale lager built to showcase Midwestern wild rice from TNT Wild Rice in Eagle River, WI — which brings a delicate nuttiness, a complex fruit profile, a beautiful floral quality, and a touch of umami you don`t get in most pale lagers.
The rest of the ingredients were chosen to let the rice do the talking — undermodified Pilsner malt from @sugarcreekmaltco, Wisconsin-grown Mt. Hood hops, open-fermented with our house lager yeast.
We`re teaming up with Lumberjack Johnny`s for one very fun night: Thursday, September 3, from 5–8 PM. McFleshman`s staff on the pinball machines, cold beer in hand, and an open challenge to anyone brave enough to step up.

Aaron the Flavor Baaron was up to something special yesterday.
He got his hands on 2 pounds of fresh Comet hops — gifted to us straight from our friend Lori`s garden — and dumped every single one of them into a batch of Shady Grove while they were still green and juicy. That`s what brewers call wet hopping: using hops straight off the vine, no drying, before they lose the bright, grassy character that dried hops just can`t hold onto.
The catch is timing. Wet hops start losing their magic within hours of coming off the vine, so brewers only get a few days a year to pull this off. What comes out the other end is a harvest ale — a once-a-year beer that tastes like the season it was brewed in.
On tap today. When it`s gone, it`s gone.
